Chicken Dopiaza is a very popular Indian dish and its also popular in Bangladesh. Dopiaza means 'two onions', which you'll find in this simple but delicious recipe and you can also use mutton or lamb instead of chicken.

Ingredients:
- Chicken breast, cubed - 1/2 kg
- Small onions, halved - 6
- Bay leaves - 3
- Green cardamom pods - 3
- Cloves - 3
- Dried red chilies - 3
- lack peppercorns - 8
- Garlic cloves, crushed - 4
- Inch ginger, chopped - 1
- Onions, chopped - 2
- Coriander powder - 1tblsn
- Cumin powder - 1tspn
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
- Chili powder - 1tspn
- Salt - 1/2 tspn
- Tomatoes, chopped - 2 large
- Water - 1⁄2 cup
- Vegetable oil - 3tablespoons
Method:
Heat 2 tablespoons oil and fry the small onions until tender and translucent.
Remove and keep aside.
Add the remaining oil and saute the bay leaves, cardamom, cloves, chilies and peppercorns.
Add the tomatoes and saute for 5 minutes until sauce starts to thicken.
Add the chicken and continue to cook for 1 - 20 minutes.
Add required amount of water.
Add the reserved onion to the gravy cook for 5 min .
Remove and keep aside.
Add the remaining oil and saute the bay leaves, cardamom, cloves, chilies and peppercorns.
When they crackle, add the chopped onions this time, together with the garlic and ginger, and saute for 3 minutes.
Add the tomatoes and saute for 5 minutes until sauce starts to thicken.
Add the ground spices and salt and cook for 3 minutes.
Add the chicken and continue to cook for 1 - 20 minutes.
