Ingredients:
- Urad dal / Ulutham paruppu (no skin variety) - 1 cup
- Green chillies - 1 finely chopped
- Onion - 1cup chopped
- Curry leaves - 2 tsp finely chopped (optional)
- Jeera - 1/2 tsp crushed (optional)
- Pepper - 1/4 tsp crushed
- Salt - to taste
- Water - as required
- Curry leaves - few
- Hing - a small pinch
Soak urad dal for an hour and grind to a fine paste without adding water(you can add little water.)
In another bowl add chopped onions, black pepper, crushed ginger , crushed pepper, coriander, curry leaves, green chilies and red chillies ..
Add the batter mixture to it and keep aside.
Wet your hand, then make a small ball .Now make a hole in the middle and carefully transfer it to the kadai.
Fry the vadai in medium flame and drain it in a tissue once it becomes golden brown on both sides.Serve it with chutney.
