For marination;
Ingredients 1:
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
- 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- juice of 1 lime
Ingredients 2:
- 1/2 cup yoghurt
- 3 tsp tandoori masala powder
- 1 tsp mustard oil
For masala:
- 1 kg boneless chicken skin removed
- Salt to taste
- 6 cloves
- 1" stick of cinnamon
- 2 bay leaves
- Seeds from 3-4 pods of cardamom
- 4 tblsp cup fresh yoghurt (must not be sour)
- 3 tbsps vegetable/canola/sunflower cooking oil
- 2 onions chopped
- 2 tsps ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp ginger paste
- 3 tsps coriander powder
- 4 tsp kasmiri red chilli powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 large tomato
- 2 tbsps kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- 3 tbsps unmelted, soft butter
Method:
First marinate the chicken red chilli powder,ginger-garlic paste, garam masala powder and lemon juice.Set aside for 15 to 20 min.
After 20 min,marinate the chicken with second set of ingredients.Let it marinate for 45 min.
Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken pieces.
Grind to a smooth paste.
Dont throw out the water in which the tomatoes are boiled.It can be used in the gravy.
Heat oil in a pan and add bay leaves,cloves,cardamom and cinnamon and saute for a min.
Then add the tomato paste and add all the masalas.
Then add kasuri methi,tomato ketchup and add tomato boiled water.
Then add the fried chicken and butter and cook for another 20 min.
Delicious butter chicken is ready to serve.
