Chocolate Fondant/Molten Lava Cake


  • 1 chocolate bar(use melting chocolates like dairy milk silk or Galaxy)
  • 1 tblsp cocoa powder
  • 50g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tblsp caster sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanila essence
  • Cream for serving(optional)


Heat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Butter the fondant mould and dust liberally with cocoa powder.

Melt the chocolate and butter in a small bowl set over a pan of hot water.

Then take off the heat and stir until smooth.

Using an electric whisk, beat the whole egg, egg yolk, and sugar together until pale and thick. 

Mix all the dry ingredients flour,baking powder,baking soda and salt.

Pour both the egg mixture and the dry ingredients.

Mix both the chocolate and egg-flour mixture.

Mix them very well.

Pour the chocolate mixture among the moulds and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. 

Turn the chocolate fondants out onto warm plates and serve immediately with cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
